Samples collected at four critical time points in one day provide a useful picture of adrenal function to help patients dealing with stress-related symptoms and disorders. Altered cortisol secretion patterns have been observed in connection with abnormal ACTH levels, clinical depression, psychological stress, and physiological stressors.
